Mobile Medics Healthcare LLC is a traveling healthcare service for rural India. Although the use of mobile clinics for charitable clinics is not a new idea, Mobile Medics is unique in being the world’s first social venture aimed at creating a sustainable business that will provide would provide private sector, high quality, and affordable medical care to paying villagers in India.
Our mission is to solve the problem of the last mile of healthcare for millions of people living in rural India by providing access to affordable healthcare services. We aim to create a venture out of serving the bottom of the pyramid, that will sustain itself without relying on the charity of others. If we can solve this problem for India, we may be able to solve it for the world. Our focus is on prevention, early detection and first-line treatment using globally accepted standards.
Mobile Medics started as an idea out of BITS Pilani, and having won awards for this idea at leading business plan competitions around the world, we have returned to the villages around Pilani (Rajasthan) to fine-tune our business model. The venture that is launching in October 2006.
Should our model succeed, our goal is to create the world’s largest mobile medical healthcare network that will bring thousands of doctors to millions of villagers around the world, and thereby preventing unnecessary pain and suffering. In addition, in this process of providing healthcare services, we hope to become a trusted source of information for primary health indicators and metrics. |
